  “Whenever I hear someone flip the page, I kinda panic.  I worry that I am behind, and that’s when I start rushing.”     I hear this sentiment frequently on the ACT, SAT, and, especially, the SSAT.  The angst is understandable.  It’s just not helpful.  Let’s look at why kids rush, why it’s not helpful, and what we can do to help.

Most of us have (almost) made it!  For most of our families, the hectic secondary school testing season is over.  The juggling act involving grades, school activities, athletics, family commitments, test preparation and actually taking the tests dominates the fall of many of our younger students.  Test-takers and parents alike are to be commended for reaching late December.  It may be helpful to remember, however, that we’ve just cleared another hurdle in a long race.
Overview The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is a two hour thirty five minute exam required by many private secondary schools for admission.  The exam consists of the following four sections:
